A pilot Kazakhstani section has been launched on China's existing digital grain trading platform. The domestic company SN Trade Company has agreed to supply a trial batch of 200 tons of flaxseed oil to the Chinese company Yihai (Changji) Oils & Grains Industries Co., Ltd., according to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"Our main goal in this project is to enable Kazakhstani agricultural producers and traders to sell their products online, find buyers, and expand their access to the Chinese market," noted Asylkhan Dzhuvashev, Chairman of the Board of the Food Corporation.
The launch of the online platform follows negotiations between the Food Corporation and its Chinese partners on the creation of a joint digital mechanism for agricultural trade, which the Food Corporation has been conducting with its Chinese partners since 2025.
Last week, the Food Corporation and the Grain Trade Coordination Center of the National Food and Material Reserves Administration of China (NAFRA) signed a cooperation agreement in Astana. The document provides for the development of digital trade in grain and oilseed products between the two countries.
The Food Corporation's office in Beijing noted that the pilot agreement will allow Kazakhstani users to test the platform and identify and address potential technical issues.
In the initial phase, the platform will primarily sell grain and oilseed crops, including sunflower, rapeseed, flax, and soybeans. The product range may be expanded in the future depending on demand from Chinese importers and the export capacity of Kazakhstani suppliers.
The trading platform offers several operating formats: open auctions, negotiated transactions, and fixed-price sales. A security deposit is required to ensure the fulfillment of obligations, and settlements between participants can be conducted through the platform.
The Chinese grain trading platform has been operating for over 20 years and unites approximately 50,000 agricultural enterprises. The Ministry of Agriculture believes that the inclusion of Kazakh companies in the system will create additional opportunities for expanding the export of domestic agricultural products to the Chinese market.
