The Grain Union of Kazakhstan announced the concept of a new tariff methodology for KTZ, APK News reports.
"A meeting of the State Commission was held, following which the Concept of a New Tariff Methodology for Mainline Rail Network Services was approved," the Union reported.
The concept takes into account a number of key business proposals, including the positions of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Grain Union of Kazakhstan.
During lengthy and challenging negotiations, a number of key decisions for the economy and agricultural sector were successfully secured:
- the principle of tariff differentiation by cargo type has been retained;
- initial plans for drastic changes to the tariff system have been abandoned;
- a pilot (simulation) regime has been established, with subsequent assessment of the impact on economic sectors;
- final decisions will be made based on the results of modeling and an analysis of their impact on business.
This result was made possible through the joint work of government agencies, the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, industry associations, businesses, and professional consultants.
"Work to improve tariff policy will continue. The main objective remains unchanged: to ensure the development of railway infrastructure without reducing the competitiveness of Kazakhstani producers and exporters," the Union noted.
As reported, KTZ has already applied for a multiple increase in railway tariffs several times since the beginning of the year.
