In the first quarter of 2026, grain shipments totaled 4.1 million tons, a 15% increase compared to the previous year. Export shipments increased by 18% to 3.2 million tons, while domestic shipments increased by 8% to 0.9 million tons, according to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The greatest growth was observed in the direction of Central Asian countries, where shipments increased by 48% to 2.1 million tons. In particular, 1.5 million tons of grain were exported to Uzbekistan.
Shipments to and through Russia totaled 512,000 tons. Shipments to Afghanistan increased 4.2-fold to 302,000 tons. Shipments to China also increased: feed meal exports doubled to 1 million tons.
The Ministry noted that regular coordination between government agencies, carriers, and market participants is underway to ensure stable and uninterrupted transportation. A grain transportation task force has been established for these purposes, and its work will continue.
