As of June 3, agricultural crops were sown on 20.9 million hectares in Kazakhstan. The total sown area is 23.8 million hectares, according to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to current data from regional akimats, grain crops occupy the largest area – 15 million hectares. Oilseeds are planted on 4.2 million hectares, and forage crops on 1.2 million hectares. Cotton is also sown on 164,300 hectares, potatoes on 128,400 hectares, vegetables on 122,100 hectares, melons on 83,900 hectares, and sugar beets on 22,000 hectares.
The sowing campaign is proceeding most intensively in the country's main grain-growing regions. 5.3 million hectares have been sown in Akmola Region, 5 million hectares in Kostanay Region, and 4.1 million hectares in North Kazakhstan Region.
Over 133,900 tractors, approximately 5,600 high-performance seeding units, 71,400 seeders, and 188,500 tillage implements have been deployed for the sowing campaign.
