From September 2025 to May 20, 2026, Kazakhstan exported 11.7 million tons of grain and flour in grain equivalent, a 13.6% increase compared to the same period last marketing year (10.3 million tons). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
According to the national company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, exports have increased to key destinations in Central Asia and Afghanistan. Specifically, exports to Uzbekistan increased by 39.5%, from 3.5 million tons to 4.8 million tons. Shipments to Kyrgyzstan increased 1.5-fold, from 297,000 tons to 457,000 tons.
A significant increase in deliveries to Afghanistan was also recorded – a 2.3-fold increase (from 1.3 million tons to 3 million tons). Exports to Turkmenistan increased by 47.7% – from 130,000 tons to 192,000 tons.
"This positive trend indicates strong demand for Kazakhstani grain products in foreign markets, as well as the effectiveness of measures taken to develop export logistics and expand trade and economic cooperation with foreign partners," the Ministry of Agriculture noted.
As a reminder, high rates of grain exports were observed in the first months of the current marketing year, given the expected bumper harvest in 2025. However, in recent weeks, exports have declined significantly for several reasons: an 80% reduction in the VAT credit for agricultural exports and the weakening of the national currency.
