Kazakhstan maintained a high rate of grain export shipments in October. According to the national company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, export shipments increased by 23% over the month, reaching 1.2 million tonnes.
The largest increase in exports was recorded to Central Asia, reaching over 760,000 tonnes (+25%). Shipments to Russian ports and the Baltic states doubled, while exports to Afghanistan grew by 63%.
Domestic grain shipments increased by 38% last month, reaching 356,000 tonnes. A total of 1.539 million tonnes of grain were transported via the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) network in October, an increase of 26% compared to the same period last year.
Over the two months of September and October, 2.8 million tonnes of grain were transported by rail (+27% year-on-year). Export shipments exceeded 2.2 million tonnes, an increase of 21%. Transportation to Central Asian countries increased by 33%, and to ports and the Baltic states by three times.
In the first ten months of 2025, the total volume of grain transportation amounted to 11.2 million tonnes, a 38% increase compared to the previous year. Of this, 8.45 million tonnes were exported (an increase of 39%), while domestic transportation increased by 34%, KTZ clarified.
The national company noted that KTZ has a sufficient number of railcars and locomotives to ensure uninterrupted grain transportation. Operational coordination of transportation is carried out by a dedicated KTZ headquarters in collaboration with exporters, railcar owners, representatives of government agencies, and industry associations. Mobile teams are deployed in grain-producing regions to ensure prompt interaction and the timely resolution of any issues that arise.
