
In Kazakhstan, as of June 18, 2 million hectares of agricultural land have been treated against locust pests. 443 units of specialized spraying equipment, including 49 drones, are involved in protective measures. More than 3.5 thousand people are conducting surveys, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
The work to combat locusts in the regions is coordinated by operational headquarters under the leadership of deputy akims of the regions.
Monitoring is also being carried out in border areas in order to prevent the spread of locusts.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, joint surveys of the border areas of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were conducted from June 2 to 6. From June 9 to 13, similar surveys were conducted jointly with specialists from China.
"Currently, there is no threat of locusts flying in and migrating from Kyrgyzstan and China," the department noted.
The border areas with Russia and Uzbekistan are also under constant control, no outbreaks of locusts have been identified. Monitoring and locust control activities continue as planned.
Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that 2.1 million hectares are planned to be treated against locust pests this year. It was also stated that no damage to agricultural crops from locusts has been identified this year.
