
In January-March 2025, the turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and China reached 430.5 million dollars (an increase of 45%), including exports amounting to 301.9 million dollars (an increase of 42%). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As specified, according to the results of 2024, the turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and China amounted to 1.4 billion US dollars, an increase of 10.5%. Of these, 1.05 billion dollars were exports. The bulk of exports were feed, grains, oilseeds and vegetable oils: feed exports to China in 2024 increased by 485%, vegetable oils - by 26%, rapeseed oil - by 57%.
On May 21, it became known that the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China signed a Protocol on the requirements for inspection, quarantine and food safety during import and export of poultry meat between Kazakhstan and China.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that this document was the result of the department's systematic work to expand the export potential of the country's agro-industrial complex, in particular, in the direction of China, where there is a high demand for Kazakhstani livestock products.
To date, 11 Protocols have been signed on various types of livestock products. The list of items permitted for export to China includes 29 types of plant and livestock products. The Register of Exporters includes 2,483 Kazakhstani enterprises. As a result of signing the Protocol, another 88 producers will be included in the register.
The Kazakh side also initiated updating the current veterinary and phytosanitary protocols, conducting inspections of Kazakh livestock enterprises, expanding access to the Chinese market for crop products - rice, cotton seeds, melons, mung beans.
Among the priorities is increasing the volume of grain exports. Over two years (2023/2024), annual supplies of grain products to China amounted to 1.4 million tons, while from September 2024 to April 2025, exports increased by 27%, reaching 1.859 million tons.
