
The main grain-growing regions of Kazakhstan have begun sowing. As of the morning of May 7, 156.3 thousand hectares have been sown in East Kazakhstan, 138.8 thousand hectares in Abay region, 85 thousand hectares in Kostanay region, 74.8 thousand hectares in Akmola region, 52.5 thousand hectares in Kyzylorda region, and 56.9 thousand hectares in Pavlodar region. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
A total of about 2.1 million hectares of farmland have been sown in the regions. In the south of the country, sowing is nearing completion. 449.2 thousand hectares have been sown in Turkestan region, 306 thousand hectares in Zhambyl region, 292.6 thousand hectares in Zhetysu region, and 187.9 thousand hectares in Almaty region.
To date, 942.1 thousand hectares have been sown with grain crops, 242.8 thousand hectares with forage crops, 492 thousand hectares with oilseeds, 118.8 thousand hectares with cotton, 71.8 thousand hectares with vegetables, 57.7 thousand hectares with melons, 32.5 thousand hectares with potatoes, 15.6 thousand hectares with sugar beets, 26.3 thousand hectares with rice and other crops.
To ensure the timely and effective sowing campaign, contracts have been signed for the supply of 866.8 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers, 401 thousand tons of diesel fuel have been allocated at a price of 254 tenge per liter (15% below the market price).
The demand for seeds for the current year is 2.3 million tons. The supply is 100%. According to laboratory testing results, 99% were found to be in good condition.
