Effective June 27, 2026, JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy introduced a 0.3 discount index, providing a 70% discount on tariffs for mainline railway and locomotive traction services for the transportation of socially important food products within the republic, as well as wheat to domestic flour mills and bakeries, according to APK News.
This measure is being implemented as part of the Comprehensive Plan to Increase Population Incomes for 2026–2029, approved by a resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and is aimed at reducing the cost of food for the population and curbing food inflation.
The reduced index applies to wheat transportation to the following destinations: Atyrau, Beineu, Aktau-Port, Beles, Zhilaevo, Kyzylorda, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Kostanay, Petropavlovsk, Aktobe-1, Astana-1, Atbasar, Pavlodar, Turkestan, Shymkent, Almaty-1, Iliyskaya, Taldykorgan, Chemolgan, Taraz, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
According to JSC Astyk Trans, the company has been supporting domestic flour mills for many years by applying minimum rates for the provision of grain railcars on domestic routes, thereby reducing transport congestion and maintaining the stable operations of domestic processors.
In support of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy's initiative to reduce the transportation burden on domestic processors, JSC Astyk Trans announces that it will maintain its current rates for the provision of grain cars for the transportation of wheat along established routes.
As a result of applying the downward index while maintaining the current rates for the provision of grain cars, the total cost of rail transportation will decrease by 15-40%, depending on the distance.
