Specialists from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) have arrived in Kazakhstan for an official inspection. According to the APK Novosti news agency, the experts are assessing the readiness of domestic enterprises to supply wheat-barley feed mixtures to the Chinese market, a sector currently experiencing record export growth.
The Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that the foreign delegation met with the Committee’s chairman to discuss ensuring strict phytosanitary safety for agricultural exports. The Chinese specialists also visited the Central Quarantine Laboratory, where they reviewed its technical infrastructure and research methodologies. The primary inspection activities are taking place at production facilities across three key agricultural regions: the Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, and Akmola regions.
Inspectors from the PRC are conducting a detailed review of:
technological processes for the production of feed meal;
adherence to rigorous thermal processing protocols;
the organization of internal laboratory quality control;
storage conditions for raw materials and finished products.
This inspection by the GACC comes amid an unprecedented expansion in the sales of Kazakhstani feed meal. By the end of September, exports had exceeded 370,000 tonnes—an increase of 30.7% compared to August and 22.8% year-on-year. This volume marks an all-time high since records began.
China is the primary consumer of Kazakhstani feed meal, accounting for over 99% of all shipments. Exports to the Chinese market continue to grow, despite periodic logistical bottlenecks at border crossings and the tightening of phytosanitary requirements by the PRC. Successfully passing the current inspection will enable domestic enterprises to formalize and scale up their exports, thereby strengthening the position of Kazakhstan’s agribusiness sector in international markets.
