Sowing season 2026: southern regions have started, northern ones 09.04.2026 в 14:34 20 просмотров

Kazakhstan is actively preparing for the spring sowing campaign. The Ministry of Agriculture reported today that the country's southern regions have already begun the sowing campaign, with 202,000 hectares already sown. Active preparatory work is underway in the northern regions, according to the APK News agency.

The total sown area in Kazakhstan in 2026 will be approximately 23.8 million hectares, 180,000 hectares more than last year.

The area under wheat will decrease by 125,000 hectares,
the area under oilseeds will increase by 55,000 hectares,
forage crops by 237,000 hectares,
potatoes by 10,000 hectares,
rice will cover 80,300 hectares, and cotton will cover 162,400 hectares.

The seed stock is fully stocked—2.3 million tons of seed. The seed stock has been tested, and the seed quality is 99%.

"It's important for us to coordinate our efforts, discuss pressing issues, and resolve them promptly. Agricultural yields largely depend on the progress of the sowing campaign," noted Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov.

402,000 tons of discounted diesel fuel have been allocated for the sowing campaign.

Agricultural enterprises operate 133,900 tractors, approximately 5,600 high-performance seeding systems, 71,400 seeders, 188,500 tillage implements, and 70 service centers providing technical support. Equipment readiness is approximately 90%.

Regions that have experienced slow preparations for spring field work have been instructed to step up their efforts.

According to financial institutions, a pool of applications totaling 548 billion tenge has been generated to date under the "Ken Dala 2" program, of which 440 billion tenge has been issued in loans. Applications for the purchase of 3,021 units of agricultural machinery worth 111 billion tenge have been received under the preferential leasing program for agricultural machinery, 90% of which is Kazakhstani-made.
Preparations for protective measures against locust pests were also discussed.

"The sowing campaign is under constant monitoring. Regions have been provided with subsidized diesel fuel and seeds. Farmers have all the conditions for a successful sowing campaign. The main thing is to conduct the sowing campaign within the optimal timeframe and in compliance with all agricultural technologies. This is a key factor in obtaining a high-quality harvest," the minister said.
