Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Board of NC KTZ, and Guo Ji'an, Chairman of the Board of Ürümqi Railway, held talks at Alashankou Station, where they discussed plans for 2026, including the implementation of electronic document management and paperless technologies. A growth in freight traffic was noted during the 2025 results review, according to the KTZ press service.

"At the end of the year, we saw an increase in traffic volumes and exports for key cargo categories—metals, petroleum products, coal, and chemicals—as well as a threefold increase in grain and animal feed traffic," the national company reported.

Talgat Aldybergenov spoke about the implementation of infrastructure projects, including the launch of dual tracks on the Dostyk-Mointy section, the modernization of the Altynkol-Zhetygen section, and the implementation of the third border crossing project, Bakhty-Tacheng. Particular attention was paid to the reception of grain cargo and the reduction of laboratory testing times, including the organization of sample shipments to Urumqi.

KTZ noted that Alashankou Station remains China's largest border railway hub, equipped with modern receiving and dispatching tracks and specialized terminals for handling various cargoes, including grain, vegetable oil, fertilizers, and iron ore.

A monument unveiling ceremony dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the connection of the Kazakhstan-China railways was also held at Dostyk Station. Talgat Aldybergenov and Guo Ji'an participated in the event. It was noted that over the course of its operation, more than 425 million tons of cargo have been transported through the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing.

It was previously reported that Kazakhstan has sharply increased its exports of feed meal to China over the past two years. According to the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, exports reached 2 million 222 thousand tons in the 2024-25 marketing year, a 2.8-fold increase compared to the previous season.
