The National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center (NASEC) produced over 60,000 tons of premium-grade seeds in 2025, according to the APK News agency.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the NASEC currently comprises 33 subsidiary organizations, including three agricultural universities, 12 research institutes, and 16 agricultural experimental stations. This network allows it to cover the entire cycle—from breeding and research to large-scale seed production.
In 2025, nearly 106,000 hectares of agricultural crops were sown, with grains and legumes occupying approximately 70,000 hectares, oilseeds 20,000 hectares, and forage crops 17,000 hectares. Research crops were significantly expanded. Particular emphasis was placed on the production of domestic seed. As a result, the area sown to Kazakhstani-bred varieties increased by more than 11,000 hectares, and the gross harvest increased by 9,000 tons. A key achievement was the production of high-quality seeds by the consortium "Kazakh Tukim" and "Ontustik," created within the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center (NASEC). In 2025, the consortium produced over 60,000 tons of super-elite, elite, and high-quality seeds.
Today, the subsidiaries offer seeds for 236 competitive domestically bred varieties, adapted to the country's various soil and climatic zones. These include original (super-elite), elite, and high-quality seeds.
Experts emphasize that the development of seed production is the foundation of food independence. High-quality super-elite and elite seeds ensure crop stability, increased productivity, and reduced dependence on imports.
To address industry challenges, the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center is gradually transforming into an agrotechnological hub. The new format is intended to become a center for training next-generation personnel, applied research, and the implementation of advanced agricultural technologies, uniting science, education, production, and business on a single platform.
