Thanks to a record harvest in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) increased its grain shipments to Azerbaijan by 25 times, transporting 600,000 tons in the first 10 months of this year. This was reported by the press service of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
During its visit to Baku, the national company's management participated in a plenary meeting of the Railway Transport Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, where they discussed the state and prospects of the industry, cooperation, increasing freight volumes, and infrastructure modernization.
KTZ Chairman of the Board Talgat Aldybergenov noted that over the past four years, the volume of freight loaded to and from Azerbaijan via the Kazakhstan railway network has increased more than sevenfold. This year, over the first 10 months, this figure amounted to approximately 4.1 million tons.
Transit was a particular driver: 292 container trains departed from China along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, a 12% increase compared to last year.
KTZ management also participated in a meeting of shareholders of JSC UTLC ERA, where the company's strategic development vectors were discussed. The focus was on strengthening the competitiveness of the China-Europe-China route, expanding the share of container traffic, and implementing integrated multimodal solutions within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.
