Mass harvesting in grain-growing regions of Kazakhstan is being held back by precipitation. According to the head of the analytical committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, Yevgeny Karabanov, the harvesting pace this year is 9-12 days behind the long-term average. Taking into account the weather factor, a significant decrease in prices for grain and oilseed crops in Kazakhstan is not expected, despite the start of harvesting.
As reported by Yevgeny Karabanov, over the past week, prices for some grain crops on the domestic market of Kazakhstan have decreased slightly. Wheat has fallen in price by 1-3 thousand tenge per ton in anticipation of the new harvest. The cost of barley has remained at the same level, as there is high demand and a delay in the arrival of the new crop on the market due to rains.
The supply of wheat and barley on the domestic market is still small, the expert noted.
During the week, 12,175 tons of wheat were sold on the ETS exchange, including class 3 (gluten 25) at a price of 95 thousand tenge / ton, with gluten 23 - at 86,517 tenge / ton, with gluten 27 - 123 thousand tenge / ton, with gluten 30 - at 125 thousand tenge / ton. Class 5 wheat was sold at a price of 86 thousand tenge / ton. Transactions were concluded on EXW terms - linear elevator, with VAT 12%.
4,270 tons of class 3 wheat (gluten 23-24%) were sold for export on the ETS exchange at a price of 103,824 tenge / ton (193 USD / t) on DAP Saryagash terms.
According to Evgeny Karabanov, export prices for some classes of wheat decreased last week:
- 3rd class wheat with gluten 27 and 5th class wheat fell by 3 USD/t;
- 3rd class wheat with gluten 28-29 and 30+ by 5 USD/t;
- 4th class wheat by 1 USD/t.
At the same time, export prices for 3rd class wheat with gluten 23 and 25 remained unchanged.
