High sunflower harvest predicted in Kazakhstan 21.08.2025 в 15:49 53 просмотра

Sunflower yields above average are forecast in a number of districts of East Kazakhstan, Abay and Kostanay regions. In other districts, yields are expected to be at the level of long-term averages. This was reported by Kazhydromet, which published the final forecast for sunflower yields for 2025.

Sunflower yields in 2025 are expected to be above long-term averages:

  • in Kostanay region - in Denisovsky, Karasu, Sarykol, Uzynkol, Fyodorovsky districts and in B. Maylin district;
  • in Abay region - in Borodulikha district;
  • in East Kazakhstan region - in Glubokovsky, Katon-Karagay, Altai districts and in Shemonaikha.

Sunflower yields are forecast to be near long-term averages in Pavlodar region and in most of Abay and Kostanay regions.

According to Kazhydromet, the average sunflower yield in the Kostanay region is 8.1-10.1 c/ha, in the Pavlodar region - 5.3-7.3 c/ha, in the Abay region - 10.4-12.4 c/ha, in the East Kazakhstan region - 16.9-18.9 c/ha.

“In general, this year there were good conditions for the growth and development of sunflower. Since sunflower is a heat-loving crop, the increase in air temperature from the beginning of the growing season contributed to the formation of the crop. The precipitation contributed to the active growth and formation of sunflower baskets, since the plants had access to a sufficient amount of moisture,” Kazhydromet noted.
