
Kazhydromet has prepared a preliminary forecast for the yield of spring wheat in the main grain-growing regions of Kazakhstan. According to calculations, the harvest is expected to be mostly around the average long-term values, the APK News agency reports.
This year, the sowing campaign in the grain-growing regions of the republic lasted mainly from the second ten days of May to the first ten days of June, according to Kazhydromet. In the center of the country - in the second and third ten days of May, in the east - mainly in the second and third ten days of May, in the West Kazakhstan region also in late April - early May, in the Aktobe region in the second and third ten days of May.
The average monthly air temperature in May in most of Kazakhstan was 1-4°C above normal, around normal - in the west, in some areas of the northwest, southwest, center, south, southeast and east of the republic.
The amount of precipitation in May was less than normal in most of the republic. Heavy precipitation, exceeding the norm by 1.3-4.2 times, fell in most of the northwest and east of the country, as well as in some areas of the center of the republic.
In the first ten days of June 2025, the average air temperature was mostly above the average long-term values, near the norm in the west (West Kazakhstan, Aktobe region) and the north (Akmola, Kostanay region), precipitation was above the norm in Akmola, Pavlodar regions and near the norm in North Kazakhstan region, in the rest of the territory precipitation was less than normal.
In the second ten days of June, in Kazakhstan, the air temperature was mostly above the norm, near the norm - in the west of the country. Precipitation was above the norm: in Akmola, Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, Ulytau regions. Near the norm - in Pavlodar region, in the rest of the territory - below the norm.
In the third ten-day period of June, the average ten-day air temperature in the northern half of the republic was mainly below the average long-term values by 2...5°C, and in the east of the country above the average long-term values by 1...2°C. Precipitation was above the norm in Abay, Akmola, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay and Ulytau regions, near the norm in West Kazakhstan, Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan regions, in the rest of the territory below the norm.
Precipitation in June of this year was observed in most of the country. The amount of precipitation in June was near and above the norm in the regions of the west, northwest, southwest, north, in some areas of the center and east of the country. Less than normal precipitation fell on the flat part of the east, in the southern and southeastern parts of the center, in the southeast and south, with the exception of the northern part of the Kyzylorda region, where precipitation was around and above the norm. The most abundant precipitation, exceeding the norm by 1.3-2.5 times, was mainly observed in certain areas of the north, west, center, in the mountainous and foothill areas of the east of the country.
Moisture and heat supply, due to precipitation in June, good and weak atmospheric moisture was observed in Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, Akmola, Pavlodar, East Kazakhstan regions. Severe drought was recorded in certain areas of the west of the country, the southern part of the center and east, as well as almost everywhere in the south and southeast, with the exception of certain mountainous areas of the Almaty region.
According to calculations, in the first ten days of July, a severe drought was observed in most of the country due to a lack of precipitation and high air temperatures. The most favorable conditions with good and weak moisture were in the northern part of the Kostanay region and over a large area of the North Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions, as well as in the mountainous and foothill areas of the Abay, East Kazakhstan regions and in some places in the Karaganda and Akmola regions.
“The meteorological conditions of the second and third ten days of June were good for the growth and development of spring grain crops in the northern regions. Spring wheat crops were treated with herbicides against weeds everywhere,” Kazhydromet noted.
The condition of spring wheat is generally good, in some areas satisfactory.
In the first ten days of July, good conditions for the growth and development of spring grain crops were generally formed in the northern half of the country.
In the West Kazakhstan region, the condition of spring wheat is mostly satisfactory.
In the Aktobe region, the condition of crops is good and satisfactory.

Kazhydromet also presented a forecast for the yield of spring wheat by region.
"According to the preliminary calculated data received and taking into account the current and expected agrometeorological situation, the yield of spring wheat in the north of the country in 2025 is expected to be mainly around the average long-term values," the information says.
In Akmola region, the yield of spring wheat is forecast to be mainly around the average long-term values (9.2-11.2 c/ha), above the norm in Bulandinsky (14.6-16.6 c/ha), Burabaysky (16.3-18.3 c/ha), Zerendinsky (17.1-19.1 c/ha) Sandytausky (16.9-18.9 c/ha) districts.
In Kostanay region, the yield of spring wheat is generally forecasted to be close to the average annual values, higher than the norm in Naurzum (10.6-12.6 c/ha), Sarykol (17.2-19.2 c/ha) and Uzynkol (16.9-18.9 c/ha) districts.
In North Kazakhstan (14.7-16.7 c/ha), the yield of spring wheat is generally forecasted to be close to the average annual values, higher than the norm in Yesil (18.6-20.6 c/ha), Kyzylzhar (21.2-23.2 c/ha), Timiryazevsky (16.1-18.1 c/ha) districts and in Shal Akyn district (15.9-17.9 c/ha).
In Pavlodar (8.7-10.7 c/ha), Karaganda (9.3-11.3 c/ha), Aktobe (7.8-9.8 c/ha) and West Kazakhstan (7.8-9.8 c/ha) regions, the spring wheat yield is expected to be close to the long-term average.
In East Kazakhstan and Abay regions, the spring wheat yield is expected to be close to the long-term average. Above the norm in Glubokovsky district (21.1-23.1 c/ha) and in the Altai district (21.2-23.2 c/ha) of East Kazakhstan region.

The department clarified that this forecast is preliminary and advisory in nature. In the future, the further development of spring wheat will depend on meteorological conditions and the formation of generative organs. The final yield forecast will be made in early August.
