The Fininvest company (the largest private investor in the creation of modern multimodal TLCs in the Russian Federation) plans to launch a trial service for transporting export containers in gondola cars through Kazakhstan in the summer of 2025. This was announced by the company's CEO Alexander Kakhidze, logistan.info reports.
"We are planning to master a new technology for transporting export containers in gondola cars through Kazakhstan to China. Until now, such a technology has not been adapted, since we have only transported import containers in gondola cars," the head of the company said.
According to him, the service will initially operate in trial mode, and is planned to be scaled up later.
Earlier in March 2025, the company announced plans to build a container terminal in Kazakhstan, at the Astana-1 station.
"We are talking about building a terminal in Astana. I have already signed a corresponding agreement with the management of Kazakhstan Railways in the presence of the heads of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan... There is an operating terminal of the Kedentransservice company there, and we will develop our container infrastructure on its basis. At the moment, a feasibility study is being conducted," the head of Fininvest specified.
