China, which had a record grain harvest of 706.5 million tonnes in 2024, expects output to increase further. As domestic production increases and consumption growth slows, imports of major agricultural products will decline, according to a report by the Agricultural Forecasting Expert Council under the Ministry of Agriculture, Xinhua reported.
Grain output is expected to reach 709 million tonnes in 2025, thanks to efforts to improve yields and farmers' growing enthusiasm for grain production.
Soybean production is forecast to increase 2.5 percent year-on-year to 21.17 million tonnes in 2025.
The report also states that China will achieve a breakthrough in agricultural productivity in the coming decade. The comprehensive grain production capacity is expected to improve, as well as the ability to mitigate and overcome major risks and challenges facing the industry.
Let us recall that in 2024, Kazakhstan exported 1 million 781 thousand tons of grain cargo to China.
