As part of a large-scale project to expand the Dostyk-Moyinty railway line, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC opened traffic on a new second track between the Beskol and Dostyk stations.
This is already the second double-track section on this highway ready for operation. In January 2025, traffic on the second tracks was launched from Moyinty to Balkhash (127 km).
“During construction from Beskol to Dostyk, 155 km of track and 106 sets of turnouts were laid, 26 bridges were built and 29 new pipes were installed. The Beskol, Zhalanashkol, Akshi, Koktuma stations, and the Zhaipak, 16 and 19 sidings were modernized. Signaling, centralization and blocking, communication and power supply devices were connected. A domestically produced microprocessor system was successfully implemented, providing an increased level of traffic safety,” the company reported.
KTZ plans to fully open traffic on the second tracks from Dostyk to Moiynty, 836 km long, in June 2025. This will increase the capacity of one of the busiest highways of the railway network fivefold.
