
KTZ has reached an agreement with Urumqi Railways to increase the throughput of freight trains through the Altynkol-Khorgos and Dostyk-Alashankou junctions. This was reported by the press service of the Kazakh national company.
The heads of the railway companies at the meeting reached an agreement to double the delivery of trains from Kazakhstan to China through the Altynkol-Khorgos border crossing from 8 to 15 trains per day from March 1 of this year. And from July 1 - through the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing from 14 to 28 trains per day.
The volume of transportation between Kazakhstan and China in 2024 amounted to a record 32 million tons, an increase of 13% compared to the previous year.
During the negotiations, KTZ representatives announced the early completion of the construction of second tracks on the Dostyk-Moiynty section and a railway line bypassing Almaty this year. This will significantly increase the capacity in the direction of China.
As KTZ emphasized, the approved joint plans for 2025 will significantly increase the export potential and open up additional opportunities for domestic producers.
