Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Danvert and Chairman of the State Inspection Committee in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Darkhan Abdikarimov held talks via video link, discussing mutual deliveries of agricultural products.
“Sergey Danvert expressed concern about the detection of cases of import of sanctioned products originating from the USA, Poland, Belgium, and the Netherlands into Russia via Kazakhstan. The deliveries are carried out in violation of the ban on import of agricultural products, raw materials, and food products originating from the United States of America, the European Union, and a number of other countries, which has been in effect since 2014,” the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
The results of the conversation have not been reported. At the same time, it was previously reported that Rosselkhoznadzor had applied to the State Inspection Committee in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan with a request to suspend the issuance of phytosanitary certificates for grain, its processed products, tomatoes, peppers and sunflower seeds for sowing, exported to Russia, from September 23, 2024. The department stated that quarantine objects began to be detected more often in Kazakhstani products, therefore, they initiated restrictions in order to maintain phytosanitary well-being.
Commenting on the information about the restrictions introduced by Russia, Vice Minister of Agriculture Ermek Kenzhekhanuly said that the Ministry of Agriculture sent a response letter to Rosselkhoznadzor, requesting the results of laboratory tests on those batches of agricultural products where quarantine objects were found. At the same time, the vice minister noted that in Kazakhstan, all products also undergo laboratory testing before being sent for export.
Kazakh experts believe that Rosselkhoznadzor is restricting the import and transit of Kazakh agricultural products due to the fact that Kazakhstan has introduced a complete ban on the import of wheat.
