China intends to increase grain production by 50 million tons 10.04.2024 в 11:21 29 просмотров

China will embark on a new round of actions aimed at significantly increasing grain production in the coming years. Xinhua reports this.

According to the action plan announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, by 2030 China intends to increase its grain production capacity by more than 50 million tons. By this time, the area under grain crops will be about 117 million hectares.

China's grain harvest exceeded 650 million tons for the ninth year in a row. The share of grain per capita is 493 kg.

However, the gap between grain supply and demand may widen in the future, making it necessary to further increase production capacity to ensure food security, the State Development and Reform Commission of China said.

The main contribution to the increase in grain production will be made by corn and soybeans. For rice and wheat, the focus will be on improving quality and optimizing structure. Potatoes and other types of grains and legumes will be grown taking into account local conditions, the document says.

The State Committee for Development and Reform of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China plan to assist the administrations of 720 counties in the implementation of a number of projects to increase grain production potential.

Earlier it was reported that China increased grain imports by almost 30%.
