The Egyptian government has agreed with the Indian government, under agreements reached before the export ban, to supply half a million tons of wheat.
It should be noted that earlier Egypt planned to buy a million tons of Indian wheat.
Egyptian Supply Minister Ali Moseli told Reuters that the Indian ban would not apply to the deal with Egypt.
The Egyptian Cabinet has given permission to the government buyer, the General Supply Authority, to bypass the tender process and buy wheat directly from countries or companies, he said.
