Although blizzards and the first snow are expected, the average monthly temperature will be 1–2°C above normal, with air temperatures reaching up to 30°C in some areas.
Even in the second half of October, forecasters predict highs of up to 23°C in the north and up to 30°C in the south of Kazakhstan. According to the advisory forecast from Kazhydromet, October 2026 will be warm with moderate precipitation, reports Astana TV.
At the very beginning of October, air temperatures across the country are expected to range from +15°C to +25°C.
"Subsequently, under the influence of a northern cyclone, precipitation in the form of rain and snow will occur across the republic; winds will strengthen with gusts reaching 15–28 m/s, and ground blizzards are possible in the northern half," Kazhydromet specified.
The influx of Arctic air masses may bring fog, icy conditions, and frosts. Temperatures will drop significantly, though only briefly:
in the west and northwest of the country: -6°C to +5°C at night, +2°C to +11°C during the day;
in the north, east, and center: -1°C to -6°C at night, 0°C to +8°C during the day;
in the south and southeast: 0°C to +5°C at night, +10°C to +15°C during the day; in mountainous areas: -2°C to -10°C at night, +5°C to +10°C during the day.
During the latter half of the first ten-day period, the influx of warm air masses from Central Asia and the eastern Mediterranean coast will cause daytime temperatures to rise to +15°C–+20°C across most of the country, and to +18°C–+28°C in the southwest and southern half. Fluctuations in temperature are forecast for the second and third ten-day periods of October:
in the western and northwestern regions, nighttime temperatures will range from +5–+12°C to -5–+5°C, and daytime temperatures from +18–+28°C to +10–+20°C;
in the north, center, and east of the country, nighttime temperatures will range from +3–+8°C to -1–-8°C, and daytime temperatures from +15–+23°C to +3–+13°C;
in the southern half, nighttime temperatures will range from +5–+10°C to -3–+5°C, and daytime temperatures from +15–+23°C to +20–+30°C, though during certain periods, temperatures will drop to -1–-6°C at night and +10–+15°C during the day.
Overall, the average air temperature for October is expected to be 1–2°C above normal across most of the republic, while remaining near normal in the East Kazakhstan Region, the northeastern half of the Pavlodar Region, and the Abai Region. Precipitation levels are expected to be near the climatic norm for most of the republic, meteorologists reported.
