Domestic flax prices in Kazakhstan rose by 5,000 tenge per ton last week, reaching 225,000-235,000 tenge, or approximately $448-468 (EXW, i.e., ex-warehouse price). This was reported by Yevgeny Karabanov, head of the analytical committee of the Kazakhstan Grain Union.
According to the expert, export prices also rose over the week. Specifically, the FCA Kazakhstan price rose by $5, to $485-499 per ton.
The price of Kazakh brown flax (97% purity) on DAP Poland terms increased by 5 euros, to 510-515 euros per ton.
- The price of Kazakh flax on C&F ARAG terms remained unchanged last week at $650 per ton, with shipment in February.
- Meanwhile, flaxseed prices on the Chinese market fell by CNY 50-100 per ton. Evgeny Karabanov noted that the decline is due to the global weakening of the dollar.
Domestic flaxseed prices in China were CNY 4,700-5,050 per ton ($676-726 per ton);
C&F port of Tianjin: CNY 3,750-4,050 per ton ($540-583 per ton).
"The domestic flaxseed price is rising, reflecting real demand, primarily from EU countries, which must import another 270,000-300,000 tons to cover their needs this marketing year (until July). According to our estimates, this amount represents the remainder of Kazakhstan's total export potential for this marketing year," noted Evgeny Karabanov.
