Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov held a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Ali Akbar Joukar. The parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector and identified possible steps to expand mutual supplies of agricultural products, the APK News agency reports.
Aidarbek Saparov noted the positive dynamics of agricultural trade between Kazakhstan and Iran. According to the results of two months of 2025, the trade turnover of agricultural products between the countries amounted to 72.4 million US dollars, which is 147.9% more than in the same period of 2024. The main goods supplied from Kazakhstan remain barley, oilcake, meat of small and large cattle, vegetable oils, corn, as well as vegetables and legumes.
"Our task is to continue to increase bilateral trade in agriculture. An important area for us is the expansion of grain supplies to Iran. Over the past ten years, Kazakhstan has exported more than 9 million tons of grain to your market, including wheat and barley. We can increase the volume of wheat supplies to 2 million tons annually, and barley - to 1 million tons," the minister emphasized.
The Iranian ambassador, in turn, expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector and intensifying mutual supplies.
"We are striving to deepen cooperation with Kazakhstan, especially in agriculture. Expanding mutual supplies of products, increasing grain imports and creating joint ventures are priorities for our country," Ali Akbar Djoukar noted.
Aidarbek Saparov confirmed his readiness to support all the proposed initiatives.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to continue strengthening the partnership within the framework of the Kazakh-Iranian Working Group.
